Our History

Subpages:

In July 2009, Civmec commenced operations with the goal of developing a multi-disciplinary organisation strongly focused on servicing the oil and gas, metals and minerals, infrastructure and defence markets.

From inception to date the company has experienced tremendous growth and has been successful in working on some of the most prestigious projects in Western Australia, applying our diverse range of capabilities.

Central to the founding Director’s strategy of building a leading multi-disciplinary services provider was the acquisition of the rights to strategic waterfront land, in October 2009, at the Australian Marine Complex in Western Australia.  On 9 December 2009, officiated by the State Minister for Industrial Development Mr Troy Buswell, Civmec held its official sod turning ceremony which represented the first stage of construction of its new facilities. In September 2010, Civmec commenced its first fabrication project in its heavy engineering waterfront facility. The new fabrication facility was officially opened by Western Australia’s Premier the Hon. Colin Barnett on 19th April 2011.

In April 2012, Civmec Limited was listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX).

Recognising the need to accommodate our growing workforce and provide premier facilities for off-site project planning and management, construction of our 6,500m2 office development began in August 2012.  Completed in April 2013, our four storey office headquarters are fully equipped to a high standard and can accommodate over 450 personnel.

To facilitate further growth and capitalise on the burgeoning Northern Territory resources market, Civmec established an operational foothold in Darwin through the acquisition of the name and assets of Darwin Offshore Logistics Base (DOLB) in June 2013. Our second Darwin facility opened in December 2013 – our 35,000m2 Darwin precast yard. In August 2014, we commenced operations at our Broome Logistics Supply Base, followed by expansion to the east coast with the establishment of our Sydney office in February 2015 and Gladstone facility in May 2015. Shortly after establishing Gladstone, our Darwin precast yard was demobilised and transported to NSW where we established a new precast facility in Macksville.

In September 2015, we launched our new defence business unit and by February 2016, we had also completed our acquisition of Forgacs in Newcastle, NSW. The acquisition further solidified our national expansion, giving us key shipbuilding capabilities and further strengthening our infrastructure and defence service offerings on the east coast of Australia.

Our mission to provide innovative solutions to our clients and be recognised as a company that delivers is driven by Civmec’s proven culture of success that combines our motivated and skilled workforce, our multi-disciplinary capabilities and the dedication and expertise of our management group. Going forward we will continue to achieve our mission by investing in our people, challenging our processes with rigour to continually improve, and continuing to position the business to meet future requirements.
