In February 2014, Civmec was awarded its first contract on the ground-breaking Shell Prelude Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) Project. The work included the fabrication, assembly, testing and delivery of eight buckle initiators, totalling approximately 450 tonnes.
Our scope on the project consisted of the supply, fabrication, assembly, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), System Integrity Testing (SIT), trial lifts, storage and delivery FAS at the Australian Marine Complex. Carrying out the work from our leading-edge heavy engineering facility in Henderson, the Civmec team successfully met all accelerated program targets, recording zero LTIs in the process.
The Shell Prelude FLNG Facility will be moored 475km North-North East of Broome in Western Australia in the East Browse Basin. It will be the world’s first FLNG facility. The Shell Prelude FLNG technology allows for production, liquefaction, storage and transfer of LNG at sea, along with the ability to process and export LPG and condensate.
