Civmec’s 2017/2018 RAP reflects its vision for reconciliation, ensuring Civmec have an environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are valued and respected. Civmec’s intention is to make a positive and lasting difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Civmec’s focus will be to embrace their employees along a journey of discovery about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culture and to better understand cultural differences that need to be recognised for Civmec to achieve the principles of reconciliation.
Civmec’s vision will be underpinned by understanding it will be essential to:
- Developing a better understanding of cross cultural sensitivities;
- Ensure that our employees understand and support the principles and agreed actions of our RAP;
- Enable our staff to develop relationships in their professional and personal spheres with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and the local and broader Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community; and
- Recognise that our contribution to the community reflects shared value and delivers positive community solutions.
Mr. Patrick Tallon, Chief Executive Officer said: “We have come a long way as a Company and I believe we still have a long way to go, this RAP is the Company most significant step towards building positive, sustainable relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their communities.”
