Our state-of-the-art facilities in Western Australia and New South Wales enable us to reduce schedule risk on Infrastructure projects by precasting and modularising various scope elements in a controlled environment. The advantages this provides include reduced site working hours, optimum quality control and weather-proofing critical schedule elements.

With our vertical delivery model, we assist through numerous stages of the construction process, from detailed earthworks, civil works and fabrication through to SMP (structural, mechanical and piping) and EIC (electrical, instrumentation and control) on site.

Marine and Defence

The location of our facility in Henderson within the Australian Marine Complex (AMC) – the Southern Hemisphere’s premier marine industrial precinct – is a significant advantage to our Marine and Defence clients, with protected deep water harbours and extensive multi-user loadout facilities.

Our shipyard in New South Wales is situated on the Hunter River, incorporating 535 metres of river frontage and two ship basins. Together, the facilities enable us to provide a significant Marine and Defence service offering, both nationally and internationally.

History

In 2016, Civmec acquired the Forgacs name and their land and assets in Tomago, New South Wales. At the time, Forgacs was the largest privately owned shipbuilding company in Australia. The company and its predecessor, Carrington Slipways, built more than 100 ships of various sizes, from Sydney Harbour ferries through to ships such as the Aurora Australis (Australia’s Ice Breaker) and even modules for the Collins class submarine.

Since then, Civmec has substantially developed and expanded the Newcastle facility to enable fabrication, modularisation, assembly, surface treatment and other support services. It also complements our major shipbuilding and assembly facilities in Henderson, WA.
